The Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) presented the Annual MBMA Safety Awards on May 12. Each year, the awards recognize metal building systems manufacturers that show exceptional commitment to assuring workplace safety.

SBC Building Systems LLC received the 2014 Safety Performance Award in recognition of having achieved an incident rate equal to 50% or better than the industry average as reported by OSHA.

MBMA has had a long-standing Safety Committee and Safety Awards Program, which was revamped in 2013 to increase the stringency of the awards so that companies with truly outstanding safety performance are recognized for their achievements.

Staff Attends MBMA Meeting

SBC representatives, Sue Delo and Nicole Miller attended the fall MBMA meeting and participated in the working committee to prepare a new statistical report and measures manual.

Member companies use these industry reports to benchmark trends and activities in the marketplace. SBC has participated in the reporting for a number of years.

“It was refresher on reporting procedures, plus we discussed ways to increase participation from other members,” said Nicole.

“We always learn something new and suggest ways that we can improve a report,” added Sue.

Both agree that networking with other people in the business is a great way to share ideas and improve the industry.

Their recommendations will go the Board for final approval.
